Lizzy Hazeltine, The Startup Factory's first Venture Associate, is a higher education and multi-media transplant to early-stage investing. At The Startup Factory (TSF), she connects portfolio companies to follow-on investors, designs programs for the earliest stage entrepreneurs, develops new content, and connects the Triad with the fund's statewide investment and community development strategy. Her specialties in learning design, selection, and team building help her boost the fund's performance and attractiveness to startups in North Carolina and beyond.
In a former life, she introduced an entrepreneurial mindset to UNC-Chapel Hill undergraduates in the liberal arts and sciences. While managing experiential education, outreach, and operations for the Minor in Entrepreneurship, she supported student-led ventures at UNC Chapel Hill with seed grants and connections. She also produced a MOOC on entrepreneurial thinking and piloted the Innovation Scholars Program at Carolina.
When not running around the startup world, she helms Waltz Night, the area's largest ongoing social dance event, and Assistant Director of the ReCYCLEry, a bike repair and education non-profit.
Lizzy is also an alumna of UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Media and Journalism and a Morehead-Cain alumna.
